COURSE CONTENT:

At the end of this course, delegates will be able to answer questions on and perform the following:

  • Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry, and their responsibilities as an Operator.
  • Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer's handbook and be familiar with other sources of information available, including relevant legislation.
  • Locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions.
  • Locate and identify key controls and explain their functions.
  • Conduct all pre-operational checks in accordance with manufacturers and legislative requirements.
  • Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for a petrol-driven cut-off saw.
  • Select suitable types of abrasive wheels and battery/petrol cut-off saws relative to the work being undertaken.
  • Conduct all necessary safety checks at the work area and set up a safety zone.
  • Prepare the machine for use and operate machinery safely and efficiently.
  • Understand environmental considerations.
  • Carry out all end-of-shift and shutdown procedures.
