Description
COURSE CONTENT:
At the end of the course of training the trainee operator will be able to answer questions and perform the following:
- Have a basic understanding of the industry, the dangers of working in the industry and their responsibilities as a refuse collection
operator. - Have a working knowledge of the manufacturer’s handbook for the particular machine to be used.
- Be able to locate and identify the major components of the machine and explain their functions
- Identify and maintain PPE appropriate for a refuse collection operator.
- Conduct all pre-operational and running checks in accordance with manufacturer’s and legislative requirements.
- Manual handling specific to handling of waste containers.
- Waste acceptance criteria.
- Working with a crew.
- Basic banksman signalling.
- Health and hygiene.
- Configure vehicle for travel.
- Travelling on various terrain.
- Operating in restricted areas.
- Empty bins safely
- Depositing waste in landfill and transfer stations.
- Carry out end of shift shut down procedures.
